Mini-games are a great idea. Golf would be wicked.

Another option is to let new players build anywhere in spawnworld, not just in the lots.

Thanks. In some cases, they really are trying their best, and we're not even acknowledging it.

I would be upset if someone insulted my hard work from their high horse. I know, they're 'just defaults'. That's the problem we have. We're treating them as inferiors. The default is a person too, and you were a default too at one point.

Thanks again to flame for pointing this out.

@LagBox

I understand what you mean by some of it, but it is in a way, counter balanced.

I can easily have a good time on the server. Best one out there. But, other players, like these few, can get in the way of a good experience. They can say their bull shit in the chat, and come and bother you while trying to build. Some of these things cannot simply be prevented by a mute, and a ban wouldn't be the right thing to do either. I can understand how you think the server has changed. And at the moment, there is still very little fighting amongst us. And do you know why? Because the trouble makers and fight starters were banned. I'm not saying the server is going to accelerate in the amount of fighting now that they're back. There will always be some fighting. But I'm not saying it will get any better with them back.

The players do not follow orders like a soldier. Not at all, I don't know where you got that from. We let the players do almost whatever they want. They're not, and a repeat not the soldiers you are saying we are modeling them as. But they still have to follow the rules. You can do anything you want on the server. But if you disobey rules, you will get banned. Players are not subjugated for being 'rough around the edges.' I don't care what they are like or what they do. But if they cross the line, we have to get rid of them. Nobody is perfect. We can;t change that. But if it's up to a point where it is ruining others times on the server, than an action must be taken. Builders are mostly banned for harassment, ruthless behavior, or griefing. I have never, in over a year of being on the server, seen and Admin harass a player when it wasn't playful. If the player is sick of it, we stop. I have never seen an Admin go over board with raging and swearing. I have never seen an Admin grief. All of us Admins are just like other players, but with more abilities. We all must follow the same criteria that is required to play on this server. If WE, AS ADMINS AND MODS screw up, then I am more than sure we would get banned. LagBox, you are nothing like the players. The worth I see from you is harmless vulgar humor. How would that ever get a player banned? These players have hacked, griefed, harassed, and verbally bashed other players. How can you ever say you are as bad as these players? You are nothing like them! You got promoted for a reason.

I don't know why you think these players are being banned for being a little obscure. They were not banned for that, and no one ever will. These players are banned because they griefed, harassed, and cheated. No players have or will ever be banned for stepping out of the comfort zone. We do not ban regulars the first time they break a rule. Have you noticed how most, if not all of these players have been given multiple chances to play on our server? They clearly proved that they cannot help it but rule break, so we had to drop the ban hammer on them. Permanently. If you are saying that our current roster of regulars and staff are creating a bad environment on the server, you could not be more wrong. This is the best batch of players I have seen anywhere, ever. Some couldn't control what they were doing, so they were fatefully removed.

In your post, it seemed you modeled us as monsters, who ban the second a mistake has been made. What server are you playing on? I have been here longer than most of you, even you, LagBox, know these players extremely well, and I can tell you for sure that they are not perfect. Even our current regulars. They have all been banned before. And unbanned. But for good reasons, unlike these five. Name one player here that isn't perfect. If we banned all the players who are rough, like you said we do, no one would be left on the server. Problems solved without a ban are extremely difficult. I have muted all of these players before. The second I unmute them, their crap starts up again. That is why I ban them. No matter what actions I take, they can not and will not clean up their acts.

I do not only speak for myself, but for all staff members when I say we give players more than one chance. If they do a little thing wrong, we let it go. But these players continued. We are not bad staff members.

I don't know what you were thinking.

A ban, as you said, is not the right thing to do. However, if a mute won't do anything, and a kick only gets rid of one's annoyances for a few seconds at best, what do we end up doing?

They were banned, and have since been unbanned. That seems like it's becoming a routine. On the contrary, we're calling for five players to be re-banned prior to some of them even visiting the server. Have they changed? Have they learned the error of their ways? I don't know. Why not see how things play out before dropping the hammer on them?

Apparently so. It was better to an extent that when we first hear about these players being given another chance, we have to fight about it. Why not let them on, and fight after something actually happens?

Solid argument, and I agree that all 5 of the players you highlighted in the OP were banned under reasonable circumstances, but in what way is it necessary or beneficial in any way to call a decision to give these players another chance 'Rediculous' before even knowing the outcome of said decision?

I don't know who unbanned these players, but I know they did so consciously. LoveBearGRRR wasn't unbanned, so we can determine by process of deduction that not all players that were banned previously had been unbanned without any consideration.

I like the staff and players too, and as a group they're hard to match. What I don't like is that we decide on 'ctrl-z'-ing an unban before even seeing the results of it. Surely, these players broke rules in the past and were banned for a good reason, but we have no reason to call the decision to unban them a big mistake. We don't know yet.

Like I said, I give them opportunities to be unmuted, and they still prove they can't handle themselves with pointless crap. That is the point in which I drop the ban hammer. When I said a ban is not the right thing to do, I meant that if the mess up, we shouldn't ban them right off the bat. I always mute players when the bring crap into the chat before banning them.

We shouldn't ban players the second they mess up?

I'm all for second chances. But these are major offenders, and they are not second chances. All of them have been given multiple tries in getting it together, and have shown us they can't by getting banned several times. We can probably tell they haven't and won't learn what they did wrong if they can't realize it a 3rd or 4th time.

Another case of a repeated offender. And also in the end, it was a misunderstanding.
Also,

-Butcher doesn't work on Villagers.
-Stoplag get's in the way of everything and destroys all animals.

We have seen what happens once these players are given the chance to be let back on. They don't get any better. If anything, they get worse. I am assuming that they won't be able to handle themselves. I know that is extremely biased, but it's just what I think.

That, my friend, is called an example of how I was harassed. By Creeper__. I was not calling him a faggot. I was simply saying that is his usual schtick.

We might as well just unban LoveBearGRRR. He did exactly the same thing as laughy_tafy. Unban LoveBear or ban laughy. Like I have already said, favoritism plays a huge role in who stays on the server and who doesn't.

We haven't undone any of the bans. Yet. As I previously stated, my opinion why they should be rebanned is biased. I will admit that. But I know that none of them will be banned again. We gave them too much time off. They know what they should and shouldn't do now. I alone, along with others, feel this is a big mistake. I'm not saying it is. I'm saying that's my PERSONAL opinion.

I'm not trying to say I've been here longer to make my argument 'more valid'. That's pathetic. I'm saying that I have known most, if not all of these people longer than you. I know what they do and what they're like. ESPECIALLY Creeper__. I don't know what made him hate me so much. In 1.7.3, we were awesome friends. If these players were somehow rebanned because of this post, that wouldn't technically be banning the second a mistake is made. It would be because of the compilation of everything they have done in the past.

It is wrong to give them more chances (another biased statement). They can't control themselves. Why can't you understand that? If you can't keep yourself under wraps on the server, you definitely don't need a 3rd, 4th, 5th, or even a 6th chance. The main big problem I have with these unbannings is that I WAS THE ONE WHO BANNED ALL OF THEM. You should have at least consulted me before unbanning them. I surely would have let most of them come back on if they at least appealed. But they didn't. They just sat there, waiting with a lick and a promise, and in the end, they got lucky.

I don't know who unbanned these players, but I know they did so consciously. LoveBearGRRR wasn't unbanned, so we can determine by process of deduction that not all players that were banned previously had been unbanned without any consideration.
ZeroYams wrote:We do not ban regulars the first time they break a rule.
ZeroYams wrote:In your post, it seemed you modeled us as monsters, who ban the second a mistake has been made. What server are you playing on? I have been here longer than most of you, even you, LagBox, know these players extremely well, and I can tell you for sure that they are not perfect. Even our current regulars.
As for the current regulars, I'm not sure, but with the exception of creeper__, I've been here longer than all of the banned players highlighted in the OP. Does that make my argument any more valid? of course not. As for banning the second a mistake has been made, wasn't that the intention of this thread, with the mistake being the unban itself?
ZeroYams wrote:They have all been banned before.
>Can not and will not clean up their acts<
Stating that they will not clean up their acts is nothing more than an assumption based on past experiences.
ZeroYams wrote:I do not only speak for myself, but for all staff members when I say we give players more than one chance. If they do a little thing wrong, we let it go. But these players continued. We are not bad staff members.
These players, as you stated, have all been given multiple chances. Is it so wrong to give them another? Is it an issue big enough to warrant re-banning these players before they even do anything wrong, if anything at all?

Lol, I think I care too much. :p
Damnit, dont bring my ban into this.
