The Grand Mona Lisa

Post by Legendpla » June 29th, 2013, 10:09 am

Hello guys, Legendpla here. Some of you may know me as Chef but I am also the server's Artist.
In this thread I will be discussing the Mona Lisa and asking you, The Audience, some questions.

This beautiful painting has become priceless over the centuries.
Why? You may find yourself asking. Surely there are paintings out there that far surpass this painting?

Simply put, no. No there are not! The Mona Lisa was painted by Leonardo da Vinci in the early 1500's.
The Mona Lisa depicts a woman whose gaze meets the viewer's with an expression often described as enigmatic. The eyes are said to follow you when you move around the room so why is this somewhat eerie painting so popular? I actually don't know.
The purpose of this thread is to ask you, The Audience, if you have any ideas as to why the Mona Lisa has become priceless and is so popular. Besides the fact that She was painted by Leonardo da Vinci of course.

Because the painting looks like it's staring into your soul.

Well tbh, its an old painting, I dont think it deserves the attention its still getting. I was in Europe in feb., and the war like painting behind it should of had way more attention...

With the tools at hand, and the bum rap that artists had back then. You need to give credit for making such an awesome painting.

However, look at modern day artists like Steve Argyle. With modern programs and artistic devotion artists now a days can make products much easier then ever. I do graphics at work in record time that the pro's of past centuries couldn't dream of because of tool limitations.

The mona-lisa is a classic and people like old things. It was a marvel of it's time. But frankly for raw quality, i'll take many modern artists.
